Lunian

The Lunians are the second most widespread race on Andromeda after the Sarins. While they share a similar physical appearance, Lunians are generally distinguished by ash-colored skin, horns, and occasionally a tail, features that are particularly prominent among "pureblood" lineages. Over the centuries, significant interbreeding with other races has occurred. Despite their dominant genes, which help preserve their distinct look, some individuals have lost their horns or tails through successive generations of crossbreeding.

Lunians possess a natural affinity for Fire and Earth magic. They are primarily a race of mages rather than warriors, with a magical potential that equals, or sometimes exceeds, that of the Sarins. Their patron goddess, Mantalune, is notably generous toward her most fervent disciples. For this reason, a Lunian individual may receive multiple divine blessings throughout her life, depending on her personal accomplishments.

Despite the global changes following the Great Lunian War and the opening of Sarin territories to other races, Lunians are still poorly received by the majority of Sarins. This tension is rooted in their origins and their devotion to Mantalune, who is the antagonist of the Sarin mother goddess, Keelai. Furthermore, Sarins perceive Lunians as genuine rivals. Consequently, Lunians are rarely present in Sarin territories (especially in the region of Keelaia) but are very common throughout the rest of the world.

Although the outcome of the Great Lunian War is often viewed as a victory for the allied races against the Sarin Empire, it remains a bittersweet result for the Lunian people. Their ultimate goal, the liberation of Mantalune from her prison, failed. This objective remains central to the Lunian identity, manifesting as a profound and shared desire to free their goddess.

Lunian males are not treated as slaves. However, the birth ratio is highly imbalanced, with only one male born for every ten females. Because they are rare, they are protected and kept within the safety of clan sanctuaries. As with other species, Lunian males possess no magical aptitudes. Their rarity and preferential treatment (despite having restricted freedom of movement) generally result in a vain and spoiled temperament, as they are accustomed to a life of relative ease.
