Anyssa Aurelis is a distinctive "Milkie", born of a rare union between Sarin and Niita bloodlines, a forbidden coupling under Keelai's law. Her early life in a peaceful, nonconformist village deep within the Ralean forest ended abruptly at the age of ten. Her community was brutally sacked by Justicars, zealous enforcers of Keelai's strictures. The women were killed, the men enslaved, and the children taken as prisoners. Brought to Mermesii, Anyssa, then concealed by a spell making her appear Sarin, was presented before an Oracle. The Oracle, discerning her true nature and immense potential, purchased her from the Justicars and sent her to the Whisperwind Institute. At the Institute, where the spell masking her appearance was lifted, Anyssa began her studies for a religious profession. While her Milkie nature manifested subtly at first, her "blessing" became undeniably evident at thirteen when her breasts began to grow dramatically, marking her as different and drawing unwanted attention. As her unique physical attributes developed further, Anyssa felt an increasing connection to Melariel, the perceived source of her blessing.
